The newcomers curriculum is designed to teach those new to Canada about Canadian meals and the food system. The supportive setting encourages participants to discuss the challenges faced in a new country. Participants learn to cook tasty Canadian favourites and get tips on how to adapt various traditional recipes.It’s more than just recipes – the sessions demonstrate how to use a variety of kitchen equipment and utensils while cooking tasty foods, such as raisin bran muffins and healthy pizza. Participants get great tips on preparing school lunches and granola bars that kids love. With an opportunity to make friends, learn new skills and share good food, the program helps to make everyone feel a little more at home.
